Following Kids, Not Scripts • As part of a year-long science project, 5- to 7-year-olds created this painting to represent how force produces motion in a roller coaster. CONNECT is a center for research and innovation in elementary education. It links nationally recognized researchers with teachers and administrators at the UCLA Lab School and public schools in Southern California to investigate central issues in education. CONNECT’s education, research and public outreach programs are designed to:
- examine children’s learning and development from pre-school to 6th grade
- investigate the work of teaching diverse student populations
- encourage the exchange of ideas among scholars, practitioners and policy makers concerned with child development and school reform
- disseminate effective educational approaches and research knowledge through its website, newsletter, publications in scholarly journals and professional development workshops co-sponsored with UES.
CONNECT is part of the Graduate School of Education & Information Studies at UCLA.
